Oh yea this is delightful. The frightening premise of single minded robots whose only purpose is killing humans and cannot be reasoned with is truly terrifying. Add in the fact that they are infiltrating you in nefarious ways and you have the frightening prospect of the future of warfare. Also, this short has a fresh perspective on a dystopian future world, and it's brutally grim. Extremely well done. Highly recommended.Product details

Good novel
This is PKD at his best. It's very short, but brilliant. A must read for Sci-Fi fans. I love the ending which is actually much better then the movie Screamers.
As usual, another fine tale of identity doubts and paranoia by Phillip Dick. This story would make a great "twilight zone" episode as it is set up structurally to work.
I see the parallels to both Terminator and Battlestar Galactica. Great catch up story for those who enjoy both story lines.
Dick was amazingly creative despite his narcotic fog. This short story is typical of his work, well-rendered as the movie "screamers". Note his building suspense once humanoid swords began to appear. Note the irony of robots killing other robots. Note the fatalism behind humans failing to stop the evolution of these monstrous machines. A.I. and robotics at their worst in a pre-Terminator universe.
The story is a bit dated but it is only because subsequent authors have copied Dick's great ideas. This was enjoyable and a quick read.
